Northumberland VCS Assembly
Tuesday 14th March 9.45 - 13.00
The White Swan, Alnwick
The VCS makes an important contribution to the health
and well-being of our communities. The value of the VCS to health and
other public services in contributing to keeping people healthy and improving
their well-being is beginning to be recognized and a commitment by Health and
the County Council to an asset based community development approach to health
and well-being requires working in partnership with VCS.
Find out more about this approach and how we can all
contribute, working with individuals, communities and partners to improve the
health and well being of our communities.
Our keynote speaker will be Trevor Hopkins, Asset
Based Consulting. Trevor is one of a small group of people in the UK who, since
2007, have been championing the use of asset-based approaches to improve
health, resilience and wellbeing outcomes and challenging preventable
inequalities for individuals, families and communities. He brings very creative
and active approaches to his work on health, wellbeing, leadership and
asset-based community development. Trevor and his partner Jayne will also be
leading the workshops.
There will also be an opportunity to hear about the
Council’s commitment to an asset based community centred approach, a local
example using this approach and the progress Public Health are making on asset
mapping in Northumberland and how they will take this forward.Places will be limited and we are anticipating high
demand. Bookings will be restricted to only two people per
organisation in the first instance so do book now to avoid disappointment
